Somerton and San Luis are smaller towns to the south of Yuma and Wellton is an even smaller town located approximately 25 miles east of Yuma. Araby is a Yuma neighborhood about six to eight miles east of downtown Yuma. This is where the Arizona Western College (AWC) and Northern Arizona University (NAU) are located, as well as several newer schools from elementary up to high school. Araby is also host to several restaurants, grocery stores (including a new Wal-Mart), the new Yuma Fun Factory and many new home subdivisions like Sierra Montana.

Further east is the Foothills area of Yuma, about 12-14 miles east of Yuma. The Yuma Foothills hosts several restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, golfing courses, and many new home subdivisions as well.
